Pan Gu, the Creator of the world

   Long, long ago, heaven and earth was at first in the state of Chaos like an egg. They were not separated and there were not Yin and Yang opposing like feminine and masculine in it. A man named Pan Gu, was born into it before anything else, who received essence of the world .He roamed among it and called himself the epochal heaven king.

He had remarkable ability. His body changed 9 times in a day, and extended that the heaven was gone up and the earth was come down. He took a chisel in his left hand, and a hammer in his right hand. With hammer and chisel, Pan Gu, the architect of the universe, set about his gigantic task of fashioning a world. He dug and wrought in the course of time about 4 kalpaes(one kalpa equal to 41 trillion years). Heaven was separated from earth gradually.

The world was opened up. There was Yin and Yang in nature. The clear gas of the Yang rose and became the sky and the turbid Yin gas, went down and formed the earth. The water flowed from the stone and the first insect was born into it, and then the insect born Bin Qian, Bin Qian born GangXu,and Gang Xu gave birth to the first dragon.

   Pan Gu lived at the center of heaven, Yujing Mountain. The palace on the mountain was resplendent and magnificent. He breathed the quintessence of the heaven, drinked the sweet spring water, so he lived forever and never grow old.

   About 2 kalpaes years later, Yu Nu, the primary female deity, was born in blood accumulation from the stone’s slot. She could talk immediately once being born. She was very beautiful.

   One day, when Pan Gu wandered on earth, he saw Yu Nu, they fell in love at first sight and acted sexual intercourse immediately. He took her to heaven palace. They bore children, Fusang—emperor Dongwanggong and XiWangMu, the west queen mother.

   It’s said that after Pan Gu died, his breath became clouds and winds, his voice thunder, his left eye the sun and his right eye the moon, his arms and legs to the four poles of the earth, his five parts of his body to the five high mountains, his blood formed the rivers and his veins the roads, his hairs to trees, his beard to stars, his flesh and skin were changed to fields, his bones and teeth to rocks and minerals, his marrow changed to pearls and jade, his sweat fell as rain that nourished all things, and of the living creatures such as insects on his body became the ancestors of human beings, other beings and everythings.

    Then, the heaven King with 13 heads gave birth to the earth King with 11 heads and the earth King gave birth to the man King with 9 heads. They all lived to be 36,000 years old. Dating, Fuxi, Shengnong, Zhurong and Wulong are all descendants of them and lived on the top of Dongyue Mount Tai, Nanyue Hengshan Mountain, Xiyue Huashan Mountain, Beiyue Hengshan Mountain, Zhongyue Songshan Mountain respectively.
